The sad truth is that many guys do a bad job of it, or don’t even have a clue how powerful it can be. With flowers however, you can be your lady’s total romantic hero and take your love life up a few notches.
And all you have to do is put just a bit of extra thought into it.

Certainly, there’s more to romance than just flowers, like a candlelight dinner or a walk on the beach at sunset. But flowers are an essential ingredient, and they're available anytime, anywhere.

Why Flowers Work
You’ve probably heard the expression that "the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach". Well, here's the guys' version:
The way to a girl’s heart is through flowers.
Women love flowers. Better still, women love getting flowers. It’s not just because flowers are pretty or colourful. What a woman really wants when she gets a beautiful bouquet is to know that she is in her man’s head and heart. That’s what you need to tell her with flowers.
It’s not just "the thought that counts" – it’s "the extra thought that counts". And all you have to do is read this guide, put a little extra thought into it, and, presto, you can be her Valentino.

No Clue? No Problem
Don’t know anything about flowers? No problem. That’s what florists are for. Just call or drop in, tell them what the occasion is, maybe how much you want to spend, and ask what they recommend. Don’t be shy.
But wait! It has to be a real florist. Don’t call one of those 1-800 fake florists who are just order skimmers. You’ll end up talking to an operator in some remote call centre who isn’t anywhere near a flower, and they’ll grab 25% of your money as commission before farming out your order to one of their “affiliates”.
A real florist will be more than happy to help, they do this all the time, and you get their expertise for free. And there are lots of good florists around, so if you don’t like what you hear, go somewhere else.

Important Tip: The Delivery
Flowers prefer a cool room temperature, but they are living things and can't stand extremes. If you order from a proper florist, they'll deliver in an appropriately heated or cooled vehicle, and you should have no problem.
If you order from one of those places that ship flowers in a box by courier, you'll be taking a big chance. Couriers don't use climate controlled vans, so the flowers can fry or freeze depending on the time of year. You could be giving her flowers that are just a step away from the composter.
You can order flowers for pick-up and give them to her yourself. Good move! And you even save the delivery charge. But the same thing about climate control applies when you're the delivery man. Don't leave the flowers in your hot car in the summer. Don't hide them in your unheated garage in the winter. And so on. Or else the surprise could be on you!
